Whilst repointing and rebuilding internal sections of the nave a medieval painting was revealed which spanned a severe vertical fissure in the stone. Movement cracks had been monitored for a number of years until it was apparent the restoration and conservation had to be the next step. The grouts were consolidated using gravity grout and sympathetically pointed using lime mortars and 5 applications of lime wash, carefully avoiding the newly found medieval wall painting.
